I obtained three bids for the shower glass install for my new custom shower and Chateau was the middle bid (all 3 were within $100 of one another). We decided to go with Chateau for three reasons: 1) They said that the glass would be made in two weeks (the other 2 bids stated 4-6 weeks) 2) The measure and bid was done so detailed and meticulous with a laser. 3) The contractor, Nelson Construction had used Chateau in the past and recommended them for the quality of the work. The install team arrived on time and did a super job with the installation. Left the bathroom clean and gave us tips and suggestions for the care of the glass. Highly recommend Chateau.

I ordered some windows for my basement through these guys and I have nothing but awesome things to say. Their price was very comparable to the chain stores; they showed on time and we're able to quickly and cleanly remove my old windows and install the new ones. It has been about a month or two since they completed the work, we have had some rain and snow and I have not had a single issue with the windows. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone in the market for windows or doors. I will definitely use them again for my other windows.

Aluminum Clad Wood Windows

What does 'clad' mean? Cladding is an exterior protective covering. In the case of aluminum clad wood windows, it's a protective covering for wood windows. It is only applied to the side of the window that faces the outside. Aluminum is more durable than wood, which is why it's used on the outside face of aluminum clad wood windows. It provides a low maintenance, durable covering on the outside of the window, while providing an attractive wooden interior.

Options

Aluminum clad wood windows are highly customizable. They are available in all the popular styles: double-hung, single-hung, casement, awning, picture/fixed, and sliding. They are also available in a wide variety of wood species from pine to walnut or a custom wood species, and stains from clear coat to espresso, or a custom stain. Interior and exterior colors range from everything between white and black.

Who Are Aluminum Clad Wood Windows For?

As mentioned above, if you're looking for a window that's highly customizable, look no further than aluminum clad. Because they are made with both aluminum and wood, there are a staggering number of wood, stain, and paint options and combinations available.

Homeowners that require a higher-end window, ask for aluminum clad wood windows. Vinyl windows are great for your rental property or for those with a limited budget. But if you're looking for a window that's warm and inviting, aluminum clad wood is it. After all, nothing says 'home' like wood.

If you're looking for a window that's made of natural materials, such as wood, ask for aluminum clad wood windows. Wood on the inside of your home, aluminum on the outside.

If you live in an area that's storm-prone, these windows are a good choice as they are highly resistant to dents, such as from hail or other debris.

Aluminum clad wood windows are for those that are concerned about energy efficiency. Wood doesn't conduct heat or cold nearly as well as aluminum. Therefore, more heat stays inside your home during the Winter, and more heat stays outside during the Summer with aluminum clad wood windows.

FAQs

Q. I'd like aluminum clad wood windows, but I'm worried about the maintenance. Should I be?

A. No. Clad wood windows are nearly maintenance-free, especially here in Colorado. The low humidity in our state means the wood doesn't swell. The tough aluminum cladding on the outside is quite durable. Often, the only maintenance required is maybe the occasional tough-up paint outside. 😉

Q. How much lead-time do you need to install aluminum clad wood windows?

A. On average, 4-6 weeks. It depends upon the size of your window(s), number of windows ordered, weather, among other things. As much notice as possible is appreciated. 🙂

Q. Are there any disadvantages of aluminum clad wood windows?

A. No. They can be more expensive than other windows. Some aluminum cladding can be more conductive than others. However, most aluminum clad wood window manufacturers have engineered about this.
